如果你英文閱讀速度太慢，第一步就是找出阻礙你速讀的原因

🚧 影響閱讀速度的常見弱點可以歸納為三大類：

詞彙量不足
無法拆解長句
對主題內容不熟悉

一旦你找出自己的瓶頸，以下是針對每個弱點的改善建議：

具體改善方法，全面提升閱讀速度

1️⃣ 詞彙量不足

解決方法：積極擴充詞彙量。你認得的單字越多，閱讀速度自然越快。
小技巧：試著系統性地背單字。我以前在學校時有一套很有效的方法 —— 可以看看這篇部落格文章【9A狀元如何死背 Vocab】。

2️⃣ 無法拆解長句

原因：這通常是因為文法基礎薄弱，導致無法辨識句子的主要結構，例如主詞-動詞-受詞（SVO）、修飾語、分詞片語等。
解決方法：加強文法能力。你可能需要重新學習一些核心文法概念，才能更順利地理解複雜句型。

3️⃣ 對主題內容不熟悉

說明：這個問題不是語言能力的問題，更關乎你是否有足夠的內容接觸。例如，如果你平常不看英文的體育新聞，那在閱讀一篇籃球比賽報導時，遇到像是 referee（裁判）、free throw（罰球） 或 turnover（失誤） 等術語時，自然會感到困惑。
解決方法：拓展你的閱讀範圍。不只要增加閱讀的數量，也要提升閱讀的多樣性。你接觸的主題越廣泛，理解力與閱讀速度也會跟著提升。

🐢 I'm Too Slow — How Can I Improve My English Reading Speed?

If you feel your reading speed in English is lagging, the first step is to identify what's holding you back. Typically, the obstacles fall into three main categories:

🚧 Common Weaknesses That Affect Reading Speed

Limited Vocabulary
Difficulty Breaking Down Long Sentences
Lack of Familiarity with the Topic

Once you've pinpointed your specific challenges, here are some strategies to tackle each one:

1️⃣ Limited Vocabulary

Solution: Build your vocabulary aggressively. The more words you recognize instantly, the faster you’ll read.
Tip: Try memorizing vocabulary systematically. I used a method back in my school days that worked wonders — check out this blog post for details.

2️⃣ Difficulty Breaking Down Long Sentences

Cause: This often stems from weak grammar foundations. Without a solid grasp of grammar, it's hard to identify key sentence structures like the main subject-verb-object (SVO), modifiers, or participle phrases.
Solution: Strengthen your grammar skills. You may need to revisit and relearn core grammar concepts to better understand complex sentence structures.

3️⃣ Lack of Familiarity with the Topic

Explanation: This issue isn’t about language ability — it’s about content exposure. For example, if you rarely read sports news, you’ll likely struggle with a basketball match report full of technical terms like referee, free throw, or turnover.
Solution: Broaden your reading habits. Increase both the quantity and diversity of your reading materials. The more topics you explore, the more comfortable you'll become with different types of content.
